Charles McGlone is a tenor based between London and Dubai. He is currently studying with Sophie Grimmer.

Charles graduated with a Masters in Opera (Distinction) from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, London. Under the direction of Joseph Alford (Royal Opera House), he premiered the lead role in Edward Jessen’s ‘Syllable’ in 2022 under the baton of Gregory Rose (London Philharmonic, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra).

He made his festival opera debut in 2023 at Grange Park Opera with performances in Puccini’s “Tosca” and Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde”. Other recent performances include Lord Lechery with British Youth Opera’s “The Pilgrims Progress” at the Three Choirs Festival 2023, having started his career with Mahler 2 at the Three Choirs Festival in 2013.

At Trinity Laban, Charles was fortunate to have masterclasses with Barbara Hannigan, James Clutton (Opera Holland Park), the Jette Parker Young Artists and two with Nicky Spence.

Roles include ‘Henry Percy’ (Anna Bolena), ‘Le Prince Charmant’ (Cendrillon), ‘Ferrando’ (Cosi fan Tutte), ‘Don Ottavio’ (Don Giovanni) and ‘Schoolmaster’ (Cunning Little Vixen).

With a keen interest in collaboration, he has worked with Streetwise Opera and a collaboration with composer Mathieu Robert to commission ‘Mo Li Hua’, a song inspired by Chinese folk tradition.
